ScriptX 8 is released
(created on: 20.01.17)
Previously we announced that ScriptX 7.7 would be the last major release to provide full support for Windows XP and Internet Explorer up to and including IE11, ahead of Microsoft discontinuing security updates and technical support on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for IE10 and earlier browsers on January 12, 2016.
Mead & Co will continue to provide bug fixes for ScriptX 7.7 to assist customers not yet ready to move entirely to Internet Explorer 11 due to the continued requrement to use old versions of Internet Explorer in legacy applications.
However, the day has arrived where we drop support for older browsers from our recommended release.
From today, we recommend ScriptX 8 or later to work with Internet Explorer 11 on all Intel platforms where Internet Explorer is available.
ScriptX 8 is built for Internet Explorer 11 making it a leaner release and introduces separation of installers for Enhanced PDF Printing.
A new feature is the ability to control the smallest scale factor that will be used when scaling content to fit. This is useful in scenarios where SVG/Canvasses are used, for example for graphing, on large monitors with high pixel counts; when it comes to print a small scale factor is required to make the content fit but the default smallest factor is 30%. With ScriptX 8 a smaller scale factor can be used and the print will fit.
It also brings together all the bug fixes made since the release of ScriptX 7.7.
ScriptX 8.0 is available now for download by new and existing customers.
Having said that, please note ScriptX 7.7 does continue to support Internet Explorer 11 and that if are are in transition and need to support a number of versions of Internet Explorer then we recommend you continue to deploy ScriptX 7.7.
