Introduction

ScriptX Client-side printing performs controlled printing of content at the client PC to a printer attached to the client PC (even if the printer is located on the network), including when that PC is virtual, e.g. Citrix, RDS, VMWare, Hyper-V.

With ScriptX Server side / Remote Printing no printing occurs on the client PC, instead the printing of content is performed at some server system (very often the server side logic of a web site but may be a service of some sort) to a printer attached to the server system (even if the printer is located on the network).

When a service is being provided by a web site, ScriptX Remote Printing is ideal for providing HTML content printing whatever the client device - a fat client (desktop PC) running any OS and browser combination or thin client such as a tablet, again running any OS and browser combination (e.g. iOS/Safari or Android/Chrome). With ScriptX Server side / Remote Printing you are able to print HTML content and use your own headers and footers, in fact use all the control over printing that is available with ScriptX client-side printing - target printer, margins, page ranges etc.

What it isn't

ScriptX Server side / Remote Printing is not a print driver and neither is it a service that takes content from some source and then prints it, such as Google Cloud Print or Apple Air Printing.
